This is a form of counselling based on the understanding that, in many situations, people can resolve their own problems without being provided with a solution by the counsellor.

The service involves the counsellor undertaking a safe, confidential process that helps the patient explore concerns they have about a pregnancy. This includes providing unbiased, evidence-based information about all options and services available to the patient, where requested.

The service can address all pregnancy-related issues for which non-directive counselling is appropriate.

An eligible person’s partner may attend counselling sessions, however, only one fee (for the patient) applies to each service.

We all experience challenging emotional issues at different times. Counselling and talk therapy can assist. As we can’t always deal with these on our own.

You can access our counselling and talk therapy session through a referral from your doctor or as a self referral to Family Haven SA

To access a Mental Health Care Plan a doctor will ask you questions to assess your condition and look at what your goals are moving forward. This information is decided between you both. Usually following the doctor asking you questions about your emotional well-being. It’s often best to book a longer doctors appt for this to happen. Where you are able to take your time and be heard

At Family Haven SA we are also able to carry out further assessments to decide what treatment options best suit you. Issues can include depression, anxiety, stress, family issues, thoughts of self harm, relationship and marital concerns, grief and loss, etc.

If your doctor sends your referral through to Family Haven SA we do not charge out of pocket costs. So there are no direct charges to you to attend sessions.

If you do not have a referral from your doctor or you are not eligible for Medicare support we charge the same as the basic Medicare costs. Though you will be charged for these sessions.
